Chlamydia is caused by a bacterium called Chlamydia Trachomatis.
Female symptoms:
Yellow/ green vaginal discharge, burning sensation/ pain when urinating or during sex and lower abdominal pain.
Male symptoms:
Yellow/white penile discharge, burning sensation/ pain when urinating, pain in the testicles and irritation at the tip of the penis.
Treatment:
Take a rapid urine test or a swab from the vagina, rectum or throat (depending on exposure).
Antibiotics will be prescribed by the pharmacist if needed.
(Partners should be notified to test & treat. Sex should be avoided until treatment is completed.)
