Hepatitis A is a viral infection of the liver caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV). It’s usually short-term and caused by poor hygeine, contaminated food or water or close contact with an infected person.
Who should get it?
✔Adults and children over 1 year old who intend to travel, where hepatitis A vaccination is currently recommended for travel.
✔are at risk of hepatitis A infection because of their sexual
behaviour, including men who have sex with men (MSM)
✔ are people who inject drugs
✔have requested the vaccination due to occupational risk e.g.
sewage workers.
Dose:
1 recommended at least 2 weeks before travel
